(June 8, 2009) —The winning ticket holder of the Saturday, June 6 drawing for the Arizona Lottery’s own jackpot game, The Pick, stepped forward to claim her prize this afternoon.
Karen Petrasek, a Desert Hills resident and an accountant, walked into the Arizona Lottery’s Phoenix office early this afternoon without knowing the ticket’s full worth. After realizing it was the top prize, $1.3 million, Petrasek said excitedly, “It sure takes the stress off of the future!” All of the winning numbers can be viewed at www.arizonalotttery.com
The $1.3 million The Pick ticket was purchased at her request by her long-time partner at the Circle K located at 6640 E. Carefree Hwy., Phoenix. Petrasek shared that she is a regular Lottery player. She owns two retired thoroughbred horses and may purchase a new truck with some of the money. Her first step, however, is to set up a visit with her financial advisor. The Saturday winning numbers for the $1.3 million The Pick drawing were: 1, 7, 11, 33, 36, 40.
“We are delighted that an Arizona resident won our state’s own jackpot game, The Pick,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. “Karen joins the ranks of many other responsible Arizona Lottery winners who seek out financial advice before spending a penny.”
The next drawing for The Pick is Wednesday when the estimated jackpot will be $1 million.
The drawings are broadcast during the 10 p.m. news on Channel 15 (ABC) in Phoenix, Channel 13 (CBS) in Tucson, and Univision 33 in Spanish.
