Arizonans Win Two Big Jackpots in One Night

One ticket in Arizona matched all six numbers to win $473.1 million Powerball®, another player matched all six numbers to win $4.3 million The Pick™ jackpot!

PHOENIX (April 28, 2022) – As Powerball celebrates three decades of making dreams come true across America, the Arizona Lottery is celebrating as a ticket sold on Tuesday, April 26, in Gilbert, Arizona, matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, to win the $473.1 million jackpot, the largest single payout to any Arizona Lottery player ever!

“We are very excited to celebrate this huge $473.1 million Powerball jackpot win for one very lucky Arizonan,” said Gregg Edgar, Arizona Lottery Executive Director. “This is the biggest ever jackpot won on a single ticket in our state and it is a life-changing moment for this winner. It also means millions of dollars to our state’s economy, to this winner’s community, and to the vital programs and services funded by Arizona Lottery ticket sales.”

The winning ticket was sold at a QuikTrip, located at 726 S. Gilbert Rd., in Gilbert, and may be paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years if taken as an annuity. The winner may also choose a cash payment for a lump sum of $283.3 million. Both prize amounts are calculated before taxes. As the retailer that sold the winning jackpot ticket, QuikTrip will also receive a $50,000 bonus from the Arizona Lottery.

Another very lucky player also won big that same night, matching all six numbers in Arizona’s own draw game, The Pick. That jackpot was a hefty $4.3 million, which can also be claimed as an annuity or for the $2.15 million cash value, before taxes. That ticket was sold at the Safeway located at 1225 W Guadalupe Rd., in Mesa.

Arizona Lottery ticket sales fund more than a dozen vital programs across the state, including health, housing and job assistance for the homeless; support for Arizona’s foster children; funding to nurture and grow our state’s economy in a pandemic-challenged environment; and monies to augment efforts to preserve and protect Arizona’s iconic wildlife and habitats.

Players have 180 days to redeem their winning tickets, and must sign the back of their winning tickets to ensure no one else can claim their prize. Winners should consult with a financial advisor before claiming their prize.
