HOW TO PLAY POWERBALL

What is Powerball?

Powerball is a draw game where the goal is to match your numbers with the winning numbers selected in the drawing. There are nine different ways to win!

Ticket Price: $2

Drawings: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday

What is Power Play?

Power Play multiplies your winnings*** by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10***** times. Mark the Power Play box or ask the cashier for the Power Play option when you purchase your ticket. The Power Play number is randomly selected just before each drawing.

Additional Cost: $1 per game

Applies To: All prizes except the jackpot

How to Purchase Tickets and Play

How to Purchase a Ticket

Find an Arizona Lottery retailer. Powerball tickets cost $2 per game and are available for purchase at the counter of Arizona Lottery Retailers and at Arizona Lottery vending machines. Tickets cannot be purchased online.

How to Choose Your Numbers

There are three ways to choose your numbers.

To let the computer select the numbers for you, choose a Quick Pick on the vending machine or tell the cashier you want a Quick Pick at the time of your purchase.

To choose your own numbers, fill out a selection slip or tell the cashier which six numbers you would like to select:

  • 5 white numbers (1 – 69)
  • 1 Powerball number (1 – 26)

You can also choose your own numbers for just the white numbers or just the red Powerball number, and use Quick Pick for the other number(s).

Multiply Your Winnings

When purchasing a ticket, you can add on Power Play for just an additional $1 per game to multiply your winnings*** by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10**** times. Tell the cashier at the time of your purchase or mark it on your selection slip. Just before the Powerball drawing, a Power Play number will be selected, and your winnings will be multiplied by that amount!

How to Check the Winning Numbers

When are Powerball drawings held?

Drawings are held Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings.

What does “Results Pending” mean in the “Next Estimated Jackpot” section?

When the website displays “Results Pending” for Powerball or Mega Millions draws, it means the Arizona Lottery is awaiting information from the Multi-State Lottery Association on if the jackpot has been increased or if anyone has won the jackpot. Once the Arizona Lottery receives this information, the next estimated jackpot amount will be displayed.

How often can I play my numbers?

You can play your numbers for up to 10 consecutive drawing dates on the same ticket. Just tell the cashier at the time of your purchase or mark the Multi Draw box on your selection slip.

How long do I have to claim a Powerball prize?

You have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim a prize. Once a ticket has expired, it cannot be redeemed even if it is a winner.

What happens if multiple people win the jackpot?

The players will share the jackpot in equal amounts.
