The Saturday, February 15th draw will start at $2 million thanks to funds from December’s unclaimed $14.6 million jackpot!
PHOENIX (Feb. 13, 2020) – In honor of Valentine’s Day, The Arizona Lottery is letting Cupid’s lucky arrow fly straight into players’ hearts, showing them a little Lottery love this week by doubling Saturday’s The Pick jackpot to $2 million!
Normally starting at $1 million, Saturday’s jackpot will jump to $2 million and roll until there is a winner. This jackpot lift is funded by the prize money from the record $14.6 million The Pick jackpot that went unclaimed last December.
The Arizona Lottery previously used a portion of the unclaimed $14.6 million jackpot to double all non-jackpot prizes for The Pick from Wednesday, Jan. 15 through the Saturday, Feb. 15 drawing. The promotion allowed players a chance to turn their $3 prize into $6, their $50 prize to $100, and their $2,000 prize to $4,000!
“We are pleased to return these funds from the unclaimed $14.6 million The Pick jackpot directly to our players,” said Gregg Edgar, Arizona Lottery Executive Director. “From doubling non-jackpot prizes, to now increasing Saturday’s jackpot by $1 million, the Arizona Lottery is always looking for new and exciting ways to enhance our players’ experience with our games.”
In addition to enhancing the Arizona Lottery player experience, unclaimed prizes are distributed to various beneficiaries in accordance with state statutes. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), the Victims’ Rights Fund, and the Tribal Dual College Enrollment Fund all receive vital funding from unclaimed Arizona Lottery prizes.
And Arizona Lottery prizes aren’t just a payday for winning players. Whenever an Arizona Lottery retailer sells a winning ticket, their business earns a bonus, injecting dollars into the state’s local economy. Last Saturday’s $4.8 million The Pick and $3 million Mega Millions win each earned their respective retailers a $10,000 bonus, in addition to the regular 6.5% commission on all ticket sales.
The Pick is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday at 7:00 pm, Arizona Time. Players pick six numbers, 1-44, or let the computer do it for them with a “Quick Pick”, and if they match all six numbers they win the jackpot! They can also add an EXTRA! wager for $1 of $2 more for a chance to win $250 or $500 instantly. Players can play their numbers for up to 10 consecutive drawing dates on the same ticket.
