Arizona Lottery Shatters Sales, Prize & Commission Records in 2021

Over $1.439 billion in sales, up 31%, returning more than $260 million to beneficiaries!*

PHOENIX (July 22, 2021) – The unaudited numbers are in and the Arizona Lottery is proud to announce amazing news for every Arizonan: Our third consecutive record-breaking fiscal year, with combined sales from instant-win and draw games totaling over $1.439 billion! Now in its 40th year of operation, no other gaming entity in the State of Arizona has returned more dollars for the public good than the Arizona Lottery.

Looking at unaudited preliminary transfer data, more than $260 million of that will benefit over a dozen vital programs and services including:

  • Nearly $38 million to the Arizona Board of Regents’ University Bond Fund, to finance the construction and maintenance of vital infrastructure and facilities at Arizona’s public universities, ensuring our state’s students have access to a world-class education.
  • More than $22.2 million to Healthy Arizona, through the Arizona Department of Health Services, to provide vital assistance to low-income Arizona families so they can eat well and remain healthy.
  • Almost $11.5 million to the Local Transportation Area Fund, to pave the way for the transportation network of the future, expanding mass transit and providing vulnerable Arizonans the access they need to work, health and home.

“The Arizona Lottery and our entire network of valued retailers are grateful to our players who are helping to do so much good in our great state by enjoying our games,” Arizona Lottery Executive Director Gregg Edgar said. “The more than a quarter billion dollars that they’ve returned to over a dozen vital programs and services this year are educating Arizonans, housing the homeless, creating jobs, protecting our iconic wildlife and landscapes, and advocating for innocent children who find themselves caught up in the court system.”

Additionally, Lottery sales generated nearly $97 million in retailer commissions across the state and paid out more than $977 million in prizes, helping to drive our economy and bolster retailer revenues as they recover from the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The complete lineup of instant and draw games is available at all 3,000 Arizona Lottery licensed retailers.  Learn more about the Arizona Lottery at www.ArizonaLottery.com.
