Record Jackpots Bring Windfall Prizes for Arizonans

$1.9 Billion in Rolling Jackpots Make Way for More Winners on the Horizon

PHOENIX (March 25, 2024) – Arizona Lottery retailers are selling tickets and cashing wins across the state as Arizonans jump in to play for tonight’s $800 Million Powerball® jackpot and Tuesday’s $1.1 Billion Mega Millions® jackpot. The increase in play has resulted in an increase in wins, including two $50,000 Powerball wins and a $10,000 Mega Millions win over the past weekend.

What’s more, the Arizona Lottery boosted its in-state jackpot games The PickTM, Fantasy 5TM, and Triple TwistTM with an additional $7.5 million in prizes on March 19, resulting in one Mesa player winning the boosted $604,000 Fantasy 5 jackpot during the Sunday, March 24, drawing. The boosted jackpots for The Pick and Triple Twist, currently totaling more than $12.5 million, will remain until lucky players win.

So far in March, the state has experienced a remarkable surge in lottery wins, paying out more than 660,000 wins totaling more than $4.7M across various draw games. The largest draw game prize paid so far in March was a $150,000 Powerball ticket.

The excitement of March doesn't stop there. Life-changing jackpots also increase the number of heartwarming community wins, with local retailers often seeing an increase in commissions earned from the increase in the number of tickets sold. Additionally, the Arizona programs and services supported by lottery sales benefit from large jackpot runs, with ticket sales supporting four key areas: higher education, economic development, environmental conservation, and health and human services.

"The thrill of winning and a moment to dream, paired with the opportunity to give back to Arizona communities with every ticket, is what makes Arizona Lottery games special,” said Arizona Lottery CEO, Alec Thomson. “Record jackpots bring significant community impact, but it's not just about the numbers, it’s about the moments of excitement and fun we create for our players."

Adding to this month’s excitement, the Arizona Lottery saw significant wins in both urban and rural areas. Notable wins in the state this month included a $50,000 Powerball ticket sold in Kingman and another $50,000 Powerball in Casa Grande.

The Arizona Lottery reminds players purchasing draw tickets that they have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim any winnings. In fact, the recent in-state jackpot boost implemented by the Arizona Lottery is a result of a surplus of unclaimed prize funds that have accumulated since the start of July 2023 (Fiscal Year 2024).
